Alex’s Lemonade Stand: Leadership And Kids

Kids can, and do, make a leadership difference in their community every day.

My nephew, Jared Herr and his friend Caton Raffesperger, have raised over $28,000 for Alex’s Lemonade Stand through their independence day lemonade stand in Gettysburg, PA.

They share Alex’s story and their own journey in this short video.

As Gettysburg celebrates the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg, they’re hoping to set a weekend record. To make a donation visit their site  or text an anonymous $10, by texting Lemonade 112680 to 85944.

Happy 4th of July.

  1. I love Alex’s story! Kids provide us with amazing leadership lessons. I’m sure you recall that the words of my then 5-year-old son Ian inspired my new book, Leaders Open Doors.

A kid in my neighborhood also found an innovative way to sell lemonade. In the summer, he’d wait for the large tourist bus to stop on it’s numerous rounds touring through Asheville (our home town). He’d jump on and ask the entire bus who would like to buy some lemonade. One busload yielded him $400 bucks!

    • Thanks, Bill. Working the crowd has been a big part of their success. As you can imagine, Gettysburg is bustling on the 4th of July, and his Dad is the pastor of a church right near the main square… lots of walk by traffic.

  2. Karin,

    How INSPIRING!!!
Loved the set up of their website, user friendly and easy to donate … so I did!
I am confident they will exceed their fundraising goal.
    Happy 4th of July!

  3. Thank you so much for all of your support. Donations are still coming in but the total amount we raised at the stand was $4174.61, and $4859.61 for our current total of the year. We appreciate every one that has helped us follow Alex’s lead. Have a great week!
